On [July 11 at noon](http://skl.sh/LloOtD) I will be teaching my [Skillshare](http://skillshare.com) class on [Bayesian Probability and a Theory of Life](http://skl.sh/LloOtD) again.  I am really looking forward to doing so for a bunch of different reasons.  First, I [really enjoyed teaching the first one](http://continuations.com/post/9078536051/what-i-learned-from-teaching-my-skillshare-class) and it’s been way too long.  Second, I get to test out some brand new Skillshare features that are still in limited beta.  Third, all the proceeds will go to [Pencils of Promise](http://www.pencilsofpromise.org/).  Fourth, the issue of fundamental misunderstanding of probability keeps popping up.

For instance, earlier this month, the New York Times published an article titled “[Let’s (Not) Get Physicals.](http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/03/sunday-review/lets-not-get-physicals.html?_r=2&pagewanted=all)”  One of the arguments made against having an annual physical was that “tests can have high rates of ‘false positives’.”  If you don’t know what a false positive is or if you don’t know why it doesn’t make sense to use that as an argument against annual physicals, then you should definitely take the class!
