Today's Philosophy Monday is an important interlude. I want to reveal that I have not been writing the posts in this series entirely by myself. Instead I have been working with Claude, not just for the graphic illustrations, but also for the text. My method has been to write a rough draft and then ask Claude for improvement suggestions. Today, Charlie O'Donnell and I are holding a 3 hour workshop at Web 2.0 Expo titled ‘Casing the Startup Joint’. It will be a lot of fun. Both Charlie and I have experience on both sides of the table - as entrepreneurs and as investors. Charlie was an analyst at USV and is now the founder of Path101. I did a bunch of startups and am now on the VC side. As always with events like this, I expect to learn a lot as well. We will make this highly interactive with lots of questions and participation from the audience. Usually the questions reveal a lot about the state of the startup environment. Somehow I have a feeling that we will hear quite a lot today that will reflect worry about what the turmoil in the financial markets means for startups.
