# Foursquare Financing

Yesterday saw the “[wire transfer heard ‘round the world](http://twitter.com/bryce/status/17354499555),” as [Bryce](http://twitter.com/bryce) put it in a tweet. Foursquare did indeed close a Series B financing as has by now [been](http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/thoughts_on_the_foursquare_and_its_funding.php) [widely](http://techcrunch.com/2010/06/29/foursquare-20-million/) [reported](http://kara.allthingsd.com/20100629/location-location-location-foursquare-nabs-20-million-in-vc-funding-at-95-million-pre-money-valuation-plus-blog-posts-of-course/). My job of writing a blog post about this has been made very easy: Dennis wrote a [terrific announcement](http://blog.foursquare.com/post/751153312/were-just-getting-started) on the foursquare blog, Ben Horowitz from “[A16Z](http://a16z.com/)” does a great job in his post of describing why all the investors are [excited about Foursquare](http://bhorowitz.com/2010/06/29/why-andreessen-horowitz-invested-in-foursquare/); and my partner Fred provides a [refreshing perspective](http://www.avc.com/a_vc/2010/06/some-thoughts-on-foursquare.html) on the process.

The only thing I want to add is that I was hugely impressed by how much progress foursquare made during this time period. Whether it was negotiating a lease, forming new partnerships or recruiting some amazingly talented people, it appeared as if the company barely took a breather – in a situation that might have completely paralyzed others. That’s a great testament to the strength and conviction of the team.
