network neutrality, stoptheslowlane

In Washington DC today the [FCC will meet](http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/16/technology/fcc-road-map-to-net-neutrality.html?_r=0) to consider a notice of proposed rule making that has the potential for creating fast lanes, slow lanes and no lanes for your Internet access at home. I have [blogged a lot about why this matters](http://gawk.it/search?forum=continuations&search_type=blogs&query=net+neutrality) and [what you can do about it](http://continuations.com/post/85077780630/fight-for-the-internet-now).

At Continuations I am participating in a protest aimed at drawing attention to this issue by running code that puts an aggressive “still loading” overlay up with a clear call to action at the end. If you have a site that you control or work at a web company I urge you to do the same / suggest that your company does the same. You can find that code at [StopTheSlowLane](http://www.stoptheslowlane.com/).

In addition I suggest you actually call your Senators’ and Representatives’ offices (which you can do right from the widget) and also tweet about all of this using the hash tag [#StopTheSlowLane](https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=%23StopTheSlowLane&src=hash).
