Today we have launched a new website for USV. It is the second complete overhaul of the site since USV launched with a blog in 2004 (modulo some smaller experiments with tagging in between). Last week was a big week for us at Union Square Ventures. We had the MongoDB IPO on Thursday and on Friday Rebecca Kaden announced that she has joined USV as a partner. At USV we have talked about and invested in the power of networks. We have also been applying this network thesis to our portfolio companies, building out the USV network. One area where I am particularly happy with how we have “walked the walk” is in recruiting for the analyst position. One of the amazing things that’s happening in the world is that technologies that once were expensive and available only to large companies can now be used by individuals. For instance, we all carry supercomputers in our pockets in the form of smartphones. Today I am excited to be announcing that USV invested in Munich-based SimScale, which makes engineering simulations available to anyone with a web browser.
